About the race grades

There are five race grades: SG, G1 (including PG1), G2, G3, and non-Grade races.

SG	SG stands for Special Grade, which is the highest race grade. The SG races are the top events of the boat racing world that are attended by top racers. There are a total of eight SG races. The Grand Prix offers the highest prize money of 110 million yen.
PG1	PG1 stands for Premium Grade 1. Of the G1 races, the PG1 events attract particularly huge attention. They are positioned between the SG and G1 races.
G1	In principle, entries to the G1 races are limited to racers of the A1 class. Racers are ranked in classes, from A1 to B2, according to their race results.
G2	The G2 races are contested by racers whose standings are next to those of the G1 racers.
G3	The G3 races offer higher prize money than non-Grade races. All ladies All female racers are entitled to participate in these G3 races. Masters league These G3 races are open only to veteran racers who are 45 years old or older.
Non-Grade	Non-Grade races refer to those other than the races mentioned above. A race of this grade takes place at one of the boat race stadiums somewhere in the country every day. Racers of all the classes, from A1 to B2, are assigned to compete in non-Grade races, regardless of their rankings. Venus series Racers allowed to participate in the Venus series races were formerly limited by the number of years of registration. Currently, these non-Grade races are open to female racers of all ages. Rookie series These non-Grade races are contested by younger racers who were registered less than six years ago.

Classification of race times

There are four different times for races to be held,
which depends on the boat race stadiums.
Of these times, Day races will be held from around 11:00 AM to 4:30 PM.
The other races are as follows.

Morning	Races where the first race starts approximately before 10:00 AM. In some races, the start exhibition begins around 8:30 AM.
Summer Time	Races in which the cut-off time for sales of the last race is extended from 4:50 PM to sunset. Mainly held during the summer months, when daylight hours are long.
Night	Races where the first race starts around 2:30 PM. All 12 races will be completed around 9:00 PM.
Midnight	Races where the first race starts around 5:00 PM. The last race ends around 9:30-10:00 PM. Races after 5:00 PM will be held without spectators.
